Durham Climate Roundtable Fall Forum

The Durham Climate Roundtable held the Fall Forum on October 19, bringing together leaders, sustainability advocates, and Durham residents of all ages interested in creating a resilient, climate-conscious future for Durham Region. Hosted at Durham Region headquarters, the event provided a day of inclusive discussions, hands-on activities, knowledge sharing and networking.

A highlight of the forum was the panel discussion, “50 Years Forward: Building a Strong and Sustainable Durham Community,” featuring academic, corporate, local government, and youth leaders. The panel explored regional progress and initiatives for sustainable development, challenges and opportunities ahead, and the potential and real economic impacts of climate change. Volunteers led the Repair Café, where participants received guidance on fixing and repurposing everyday items, fostering a culture of reuse and helping to reduce waste. The forum’s exhibitor booths showcased the work of local organizations, community partners, and student-led projects, informing community members about initiatives like Durham Greener Homes and important sustainability.

The Durham Climate Roundtable extends gratitude to the volunteers, speakers, and exhibitors who created an inclusive experience.
